eZeebike: Katima to Cape Ride

Katima to Cape Report

When I first mentioned the idea to James Swift, the ezeebike distributor in South Africa, I got the same reaction as from most people. “You’re mad!” But he didn’t stop there. He spoke to Wai Won Ching, the head of ezeebikes in Shanghai, and together they said “You’re mad, but let’s do it. We’ve got just the bike for the job”. Ching even said he’d ride with me and so it started.

Brompton World Championship 2009

The 4th Brompton World Championship will be held on Sunday 4th October 2009 at Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire.

The Brompton World Championship will again be held as part of the Bike Blenheim Palace event; after a successful collaboration in 2008, both parties were keen to join forces again and work together on this year’s event. Paul Orsi, Events Manager at Blenheim Palace, explained: “The two events share many common values,not least the desire for excellence and fun in sporting endeavours.” [See  full Press Release (pdf).]

From article: "Six months after switching to an electric bicycle for his daily commute, Eric Busch has saved hundreds of dollars in gas for his guzzling SUV, shaved three minutes off his morning drive and dropped a pants size.

A second-term El Segundo city councilman, Busch was so taken with his new toy that he and wife, Andrea, have opened their own electric bicycle store, likely the first in the region, in El Segundo's quaint downtown.

'We're just so happy to introduce these to the South Bay,' Andrea Busch said as she made final preparations for Electric Bikes LA's grand opening Friday.

Inside the tiny Main Street shop, a tall countertop was still damp with fresh paint and the computer network was on the fritz, but the Buschs were ready for business.

A phalanx of shiny bikes ranging in cost from $1,500 to $2,200 stood at attention inside the small showroom.

Helmets of all shapes and sizes, detachable bicycle bags and other accessories lined the shop's bright blue, mirror-accented walls.

And interest around town was piqued..."
